Why you need a patch test before hair colour
What a patch test is, why it's 48 hours before, and how long it lasts.

If you're new to us, or it's been a while, we'll ask for a patch test before your colour appointment. Here's why — and why it's quick.
What is a patch test?
A tiny amount of colour is placed on your skin, usually behind the ear. It takes a couple of minutes. You then go about your day and keep an eye on it.
Why 48 hours?
An allergic reaction to hair colour can take time to appear. Testing at least 48 hours before your appointment gives us a safe window to check.
How long does it last?
Your patch test is valid for six months — unless your health, medication or colour brand changes, in which case we'll do a fresh one.
What if I skip it?
Without a valid patch test we can't safely colour your hair, so the appointment may have to be refused. Patch tests are free — book one online in under a minute.
